The success of next-generation precision oncology depends on the discovery of new actionable disease characteristics, rapid, accurate, and comprehensive diagnosis, and the development of new therapies. The future of tumor classification lies in AI-enhanced predictive modeling, expanded global tumor reference datasets, liquid biopsy based transcriptomic profiling.
In this review, we first discuss how advances in next-generation sequencing and molecular profiling have enabled the identification of shared actionable alterations. Real-time computational pathology integration will become standard as datasets grow and algorithms mature.
